Local residents, businesses and community groups are invited to have their say on revised proposals
to redevelop a derelict area of land near the end of historic Rochester High Street.

Donard Living is consulting on plans to create a residential development and public space at
Ironmonger Yard (formerly known as Bardell Wharf) at the junction of Rochester High Street,
Corporation Street and Star Hill. Planning permission was given for a larger scheme, which is now
being amended with a view to providing a smaller development more in keeping with the area.

The new proposal would offer a mix of built to rent, built for sale, affordable and later living
apartments on the site. A new public garden is proposed and the Star Hill junction has been
redesigned to improve pedestrian safety and reconnect the High Street. The proposals are designed
to transform a part of Rochester that has been unused for many years.

The new Ironmonger Yard proposals are for 296 homes, compared to the 374 accepted by Medway
Council under the current planning permission for Bardell Wharf.

A public exhibition outlining the plans is being held at Medway Adult Education Centre, Rochester
Community Hub, Eastgate, Rochester ME1 1EW from 2pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday, 10th July.
Experts from the project team will be on hand to answer questions, and people are welcome to drop
in any time.
